The Malayalee Association of Staten Island is an organization established in 1983 by the efforts of a group of Malayalee youths who wanted a platform to assemble. The formal inauguration of this association was done by Mrs. Ambika Sukumaran, the famous cine artist of Malayalam cinema. Picnics and Onam celebrations were the main events at the beginning years and later its growth was rapid. In a short span of time, this association became one of the leading Malayalee associations in the USA. The members of this Association maintained historical importance of our motherland, its natural beauty, its cultural heritage, its mythologies and the lifestyles of the people that makes it the ‘God’s Own Country’. Our main aim is to promote cultural, educational and social activities and to encourage and revitalize the traditional arts and crafts of our motherland and to provide a forum for the Keralites and their descendants residing in the United States of America to preserve and foster their moral, social, cultural, educational, literary and artistic heritage. These attitudes help us to raise, solicit and receive funds, charities and donations to carry out worthy humanitarian causes and activities.
